How To Safely And Efficiently Clean Graphics Cards With An Ultrasonic Cleaning Machine?
Sep 17, 2025
Step 1: Safe disassembly and pre-processing
1. Disassemble the graphics card:
Remove the screws from the backplate, separate the heat sink, fan, and PCB board.
Wipe the residual silicone grease on the surface of GPU with non-woven fabric to avoid contaminating the cleaning solution.
Mark the installation position of small parts such as screws and washers.
2. Component protection:
Cover sensitive areas such as capacitor pins and BIOS chips with heat-resistant tape.
Remove vulnerable components such as RGB light strips and temperature control sensors.
Step 2: Selection of cleaning solution and equipment parameters
1. Recommended cleaning agents:
Neutral electronic cleaning solution (such as CRC 2-26): compatible with both metal and plastic.
Deionized water+isopropanol mixture (ratio 3:1): a low-cost solution that requires thorough drying.
2. Device settings:
Frequency: 30kHz~40kHz (high frequency suitable for metal parts, low frequency protective for plastic).
Temperature: 35 ℃~45 ℃ (accelerates stain dissolution and avoids deformation of heat dissipation stickers).
Time: 5-8 minutes per session, with a maximum of 2 repetitions for stubborn stains.
Step 3: Cleaning operation and drying
1. Cleaning process:
Place the PCB and heat sink separately into the cleaning basket, ensuring complete immersion.
After starting the device, observe the turbidity of the liquid. If it is too dirty, replace the cleaning agent.
2. Deep drying:
Blow dry the moisture in the gaps with compressed air (key points: PCI-E gold fingers, bottom of capacitors).
Place in an anti-static drying oven (50 ℃) for 1-2 hours, or let it air dry naturally for 24 hours.
