Is the weld strength sufficient? Is it prone to coming apart?
The weld strength is more than adequate, and the bond is highly durable. The process works by using ultrasonic waves to generate heat through the high-speed friction of plastic molecules, creating a molecular-level bond rather than relying on mechanical interlocking or chemical adhesives. Actual test data shows that for identical materials (such as welding ABS to ABS), the tensile strength at the weld often reaches or even exceeds 80%–100% of the base material's strength. In other words, under destructive stress, the plastic itself typically breaks before the weld joint fails. Compared to traditional adhesives-which can age, become brittle, and detach-ultrasonic welding avoids aging issues, ensures consistent weld quality, and guarantees airtightness.
